Yep I'm a newb! To this site at least. I've been drivin' around my beater '94 s10 Extended cab 2.2 5 speed for a while and honestly I've been a little bored with it.

Great truck. Never let me down, I think I might owe it something!

Well, I got one of them wonderful DUI's and can't really do any driving right now so she's sitting in the garage waiting for my action. Rebuild her into something awesome, or roll continue just band-aiding her together and let her meet her fate soon enough?

I believe I'm going with the former.. :fun_11:

Now, I have most everything else figured out, mapped out, and under configuration as far as drive train goes, what I'm really complexed about is the suspension set up. Like I said she's a stocker 2.2 two wheel drive, 5 speed, extended cab truck.
I've been deciding on ride height namely and this is what I know I want with the finished process:
-I dont want it slammed on the ground, I understand some people really like this, and it probably helps the overall handling of the truck in some way, but the furthest I want it dropped is barely noticable lower than factory ride height.
-I want to make up for the wheel well gap, with partial lowering, and as far as the rear, I would like to do maybe a back-halve set up with coil overs and ladder bar or a 4-link design and a mini-tub. Actually allowing the room for the larger tire, and accomodated use of the larger tire to fill the gap in the wheel well.
-Now I do say mini-tub, and that is because I dont want to run a giant "Hoosier 33.5x16" slick or anything really even close to that.
The tire size I'm looking at going with is actually- a "30x13.5x15" MT ET Street Bias Ply. It's got a section width of 13.6" and a tread width of 11.1". A hair larger than the 315/60/15 ET STREET Radial.
-As for the front:
I'm overall looking for maybe a slight rake from the rear to also slightly decrease the wheel gap, but again- NOT looking to slam this truck on the ground. Leaning toward the MT Sportsman Front Runners in the "26x7.5x15" series.
No RIDICULOUS amounts of rake, but just enough to help get it slightly lower in the front, would like it as even as possible with just enough rake to look aggressive as well.

So I reckon,

With this being my first S10 build up, I would love to get some feedback, or pictures of anything similar!

Rear end length & style?

Overall rear suspension set up?

Front Suspension?

Thanks! I know it's a lot asking from a "NEWB" but I'm looking to see what I can do with a fire breathing small block backed by a standard trans, in this little extended cab work truck!

-Justin

Hey guys, new here. I am finishing up my 383 swap in my 94 s10. I had a 350 in it, but I opted to go a little bigger. Anyway I have a quick question. I am setting the engine and trans in soon and I was wondering if anyone makes a transmission cross member that is notched/humped out for the exhaust. I am running 3inch true dual and would like the member to be notched. Anyone find anything like this or will I have to make it myself? Turbo 400 trans if it matters.

Also, I have the hedmen longtubes. Is it better to have them on the motor and put it in? Or put them on when the motor is already in? Thanks a lot guys!

trying to decide what transmission to stick in the truck its a around a 3.42rearend from what i have researched havent got under there to see if the tag is on it or not. it was in a 88 2.5l 2wd truck but either way I plan on running it till it breaks. from what i see using a gear/th350/rpm calculator ill be doing around 2,800-3,100 rpm doing around 60 is this right? If so thats not gonna work I use the highway regularly and the speed limit is 70mph so 75mph pretty much :) I have a tranny out of a 89 4.3 I can use (not sure exactly what model it is ) I know lots of newb questions im just trying to get my ideas/goals in order. I got the engine bay straightend up/power to everything i need and fuel cell/lines ran need to get working on a motor and tranny?

these calculators are different i found one for TH350 thats alot lower
TH350 3rd gear/3.42/65mph

65MPH
2873 RPM 26" tire
2766RPM 27" tire
2668RPM 28" tire

what are your results? I plan on running 275/60/15

I need some help! I'm not a pro with V8's or Chevys in general.

I'm looking at buying a 1985 S10 with a 383 stroker. The guy says it has a 3500rpm stall. I'm looking to use this for a daily driver. From what I have read, 3500 is too much. What kind of converter should this engine/trans setup be running for street/mild strip use?

Thanks in advance
